‘3 Points’, a shunting plank (hence the name) on steroids, is a DCC 7mm scale standard, narrow and dual gauge layout conceived to broaden the range of scales supported by the Club. It has developed into a simple quayside scene (4.8m x 0.8m excl. fiddle yards), which has the ability to operate anything from small shunting operations, mainline through traffic and 7mm narrow gauge. ‘3 Points’ is a fictitious location somewhere in the UK, aimed to allow Club members to run their own stock from any period and region. Although no specific prototype is depicted, many of the buildings are based on the warehouses in Newport, IoW, and the London Warehouse in Boston. The scenic break is influenced by the Medina Viaduct in Newport, IoW.
The layout is currently the main focus of the ‘Not 4mm Group’, with the aim of it being ready for the exhibition circuit in 2021 – should the circuit return then!
